{About Hope in a Blanket}

Hello!  My name is Stephanee Kammer and I have a passion for crocheting and raising cause awareness.  I started Hope in a Blanket after my mother survived thyroid cancer, my grandmother survived breast cancer, and sadly my great grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer.  At the age of 17 I discovered a lump the size of an egg in my breast and had it removed immediately due to my families' history of cancer.  Fortunately for me, it was benign.  We all face troublesome times, some much harder than others, which shows that no one is ever alone.

Hope in a Blanket was created to help others who are in a time of need.  My grandmother taught me how to knit at a young age, and I then taught myself how to crochet.  I wanted to use my talent to help others which is why I started this amazing group.  A blanket is a sign of comfort and safety.  When handmade, there is so much love behind every stitch.

During the months of August-October I will be collecting new or gently used hats, scarves, gloves, and blankets. All donated items will be delivered to my local hospital's breast cancer unit for patients undergoing treatment. Recipients will have the option of keeping their gift or donating it back to the hospital for incoming patients.

To date, Hope in a Blanket has collected and delivered over 1,600 items and almost $900!  A big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported and/or donated to help make this possible, the patients truly appreciate their gifts!
